NLO QCD+EW predictions for tHj and tZj production at the LHC

In this work we calculate the cross sections for the hadroproduction of a single top quark or antiquark in association with a Higgs (tHj) or Z boson (tZj) at NLO QCD+EW accuracy. In the case of tZj production we consider both the case of the Z boson undecayed and the complete final state tℓ+ℓ−j, including off-shell and non-resonant effects. We perform our calculation in the five-flavour-scheme (5F

Assessment of Global Lung Function Initiative (GLI) reference equations for diffusing capacity in relation to respiratory burden in the Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioImage Study (SCAPIS)

The Global Lung Function Initiative (GLI) has recently published international reference values for diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide (DLCO). Lower limit of normal (LLN), i.e. the 5th percentile, usually defines impaired DLCO We examined if the GLI LLN for DLCO differs from the LLN in a Swedish population of healthy, never-smoking individuals and how any such differences affect id

The dark phases of the N2HDM

We discuss the dark phases of the Next-to-2-Higgs Doublet model. The model is an extension of the Standard Model with an extra doublet and an extra singlet that has four distinct CP-conserving phases, three of which provide dark matter candidates. We discuss in detail the vacuum structure of the different phases and the issue of stability at tree-level of each phase. Taking into account the most r

Spatial dynamics of lithiation and lithium plating during high-rate operation of graphite electrodes

The principal inhibitor of fast charging lithium ion cells is the graphite negative electrode, where favorable conditions for lithium plating occur at high charge rates, causing accelerated degradation and safety concerns. The local response of graphite, both at the electrode and particle level, when exposed to fast charging conditions of around 6C is not well understood. Consequently, the conditi

Limitations of Available Studies Prevent Reliable Comparison Between Tumour Ablation and Partial Nephrectomy for Patients with Localised Renal Masses : A Systematic Review from the European Association of Urology Renal Cell Cancer Guideline Panel

The European Association of Urology (EAU) Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) Guideline Panel performed a protocol-driven systematic review (SR) on thermal ablation (TA) compared with partial nephrectomy (PN) for T1N0M0 renal masses, in order to provide evidence to support its recommendations. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were followed, and only

Stable CsPb1- xZn xI3Colloidal Quantum Dots with Ultralow Density of Trap States for High-Performance Solar Cells

All inorganic halide perovskites in the form of colloidal quantum dots (QDs) have come into people's view as one of the potential materials for the high-efficiency solar cells; nevertheless, the high surface trap density and poor stability of QDs restrict the performance improvement and application. Here, we obtain colloidal inorganic perovskite CsPb1-xZnxI3 QDs by the hot-injection synthesis proc

Highlights from the first beam commissioning stage at ESS for its ion source and low energy beam transport

The proton linac of the European Spallation Source, under construction in Lund, Sweden, had beam commissioning of its ion source (IS) and the following low energy beam transport (LEBT) at their final locations from September 2018 to July 2019. This was first of several beam commissioning stages for the linac of ESS, towards the start of the user program in 2023. This paper presents highlights of c

Quantitative 1H MRI and MRS of fatty acid composition

Adipose tissue as well as other depots of fat (triglycerides) are increasingly being recognized as active contributors to the human function and metabolism. In addition to the fat concentration, also the fatty acid chemical composition (FAC) of the triglyceride molecules may play an important part in diseases such as obesity, insulin resistance, hepatic steatosis, osteoporosis, and cancer. MR spec

Longitudinal atrophy in early Braak regions in preclinical Alzheimer's disease

A major focus of Alzheimer's disease (AD) research has been finding sensitive outcome measures to disease progression in preclinical AD, as intervention studies begin to target this population. We hypothesize that tailored measures of longitudinal change of the medial temporal lobe (MTL) subregions (the sites of earliest cortical tangle pathology) are more sensitive to disease progression in precl

Disease activity trajectories in rheumatoid arthritis : a tool for prediction of outcome

Objective: Predicting treatment response and disease progression in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) remains an elusive endeavour. Identifying subgroups of patients with similar progression is essential for understanding what hinders improvement. However, this cannot be achieved with response criteria based on current versus previous Disease Activity Scores, as they lack the time component. We propose a

Antimicrobial stewardship programs; a two-part narrative review of step-wise design and issues of controversy Part I : step-wise design of an antimicrobial stewardship program

Regardless of one’s opinion of antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs), it is hardly possible to work in hospital care and not be exposed to the term or its practical effects. Despite the term being relatively new, the number of publications in the field is vast, including several excellent reviews of general and specific aspects. Work in antimicrobial stewardship is complex, and includes not on

Carotid Plaque Morphology is Similar in Patients with Reduced and Normal Renal Function

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular events such as stroke. However, it is still unclear if decreased kidney function is associated with a vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque phenotype. To explore if renal function was associated with carotid plaque vulnerability we analyzed carotid plaques obtained at surgery from the Carotid Plaque Imagin

Abdominal pain after gastric bypass in the acute general surgical care setting

Background: Managing acute abdominal pain in the large and growing population of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB)–operated patients poses a challenge to general surgeons, because of diagnostic limitations and the risk of internal herniation. Objective: To investigate the diagnoses, management, and outcome of RYGB patients admitted for acute abdominal pain. Setting: University Hospital, Sweden. Meth
